Gundega began her Mind and Body studies as a martial artist when she was 10 years old practicing Wushu, derived from traditional Chinese Martial Arts, and later Taekwondo (Korean Martial Arts). Afterwards she turned to more peaceful practices of Taiji and Qigong. She has always been fascinated by the great wisdom of the eastern philosophies.
In 2000 Gundega was bitten by a tick and contracted Lyme disease that paralyzed her left shoulder. She had constant pain in all her joints and muscles; she couldn't lift her left arm. While moving through this experience Gundega started applying yogic mindfulness and breathing techniques. With patience she slowly recovered and received great benefits from her practice. Yoga helped her regain mobility.
Since her recovery Gundega has been actively studying several yoga styles (including Anusara, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Kundalini and Vinyasa Krama), all of them have given her great insights. Gundega is a Yoga Alliance Registered Hatha and Kundalini teacher currently working towards the Advanced 500-hour teacher certification. Day by day Gundega is studying more to be a better yoga guide and messenger.
